Get Published!

So, you write sci-fi / fantasy? That’s what Imperial-Literature is all about!

We welcome all submissions, whatever the length, whatever the setting (provided it’s sci-fi/fantasy of course!). There is no problem with adult themes*. Neither do we have any requirement that you be a member, a previously published writer, or any of that.

However we do work a little bit differently to the internet fiction sites / forums you may be familiar with…

Fiction Publishing at Imperial-Literature

First, Imperial-Literature features one new piece of fiction every Monday and Thursday. So we don’t publish stories as we receive them, there is a publishing schedule. This may mean waiting a week or two for your work to appear.

Second, we are an edited publication, not a self-publishing service. What distinguishes us from other fiction sites / forums is a “gold standard” that aims to ensure every reader will be satisfied by what they find.

That means we don’t publish all the stories we receive.  In particular, incomplete parts of stories are an absolute no-go…  it should also go without saying that good spelling and grammar, use of paragraphs etc. is a requirement.

Other avenues

We know that great writers don’t spring fully formed from the womb… they need to learn, develop and hone their skills.

For those in doubt, please don’t be discouraged from getting involved in the site. We especially welcome less experienced writers on our excellent Forum which you can use to post your work and request critique, discuss background ideas and where exactly that pesky apostrophe goes! ;)

How to submit your story!

Okay, hands up who skipped down to this section?

If you don’t want to be a member, the simplest thing to do is pop your story in an email to “submissions” (I’ll let you guess the whole address, but it might just end in “imperial-literature.net” and have an “@” sign in there too…)

Members of the site (it’s free…) can get access to a web-interface that allows you to work on and preview your story live on the site, before submitting it for review. You just need to ask after signing up for an account (click on this topic). And of course, you can ask any questions you may have on the forum…

Please don’t be discouraged from submitting your work, just because we’re an edited publication. We don’t bite!

thanks,

Ironfist
